Secretariat ran on all those big tracks in California, back East, won the Kentucky Derby, but he never raced in Elko. He’s known for big tracks and big races.

Small town track, Small town Fair. Fun because everything is “up close and personal.”

0nce every year on Labor day is the Elko County fair. It is a time when people who have grown up in Elko return to renew their friendships. As a child I spent each summer on a remote cattle ranch and my love of horses and being cowboy makes the fair even more meaningful. There are stock horse classes as well as horse racing.

This year daughters of my sister, MaryAnn Warren, came to the Fair: Nanci Warren and Linda and husband GuanLuca Greco. Son Nathan was with us in the box.
